Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Shop Logistics Coordinator / Forklift Operator to support warehouse operations, material handling, shipping, receiving, and freight logistics for TED 2027.

This position plays a critical role in keeping production operations organized, efficient, and on schedule. The ideal candidate will have strong forklift operating experience, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage large, irregularly shaped, custom-fabricated scenic components.

This is not a traditional warehouse forklift position. We need someone who can take ownership of shop logistics, coordinate material movement, manage inventory, and work directly with fabrication and production crews to ensure materials and scenic elements are properly received, stored, transported, and returned.

Key Responsibilities

Warehouse Operations & Inventory Management

  • Establish and maintain organized receiving, storage, staging, and shipping areas.

  • Receive incoming deliveries, inspect materials, and verify quantities against packing lists.

  • Organize lumber, sheet goods, hardware, equipment, and custom-fabricated scenic components.

  • Maintain accurate inventory spreadsheets, crate lists, and shipping manifests.

  • Track materials and equipment throughout production, shipping, and return processes.

Forklift Operations & Material Handling

  • Safely operate forklifts and approved material-handling equipment.

  • Move, stage, and position oversized, irregularly shaped scenic assemblies and custom crates.

  • Coordinate safe material movement throughout the fabrication shop and loading areas.

  • Support fabrication crews with material handling and equipment movement as needed.

Shipping, Freight & Truck Loading

  • Coordinate with project leadership to develop efficient truck-loading and shipping plans.

  • Oversee safe loading, blocking, bracing, and cargo securement.

  • Prepare scenic components, equipment, and materials for outbound transportation.

  • Maintain shipping documentation and coordinate freight pickups and deliveries.

  • Ensure materials are properly protected, labeled, and organized for transport.

Project Closeout & Returns

  • Coordinate inbound return shipments following project completion.

  • Inspect, document, and organize returned materials and equipment.

  • Identify reusable scenic components and prepare them for storage or future projects.

  • Assist with warehouse cleanup, inventory reconciliation, and final project closeout.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in warehouse logistics, shipping and receiving, freight handling, or event production logistics.

  • Proven experience operating forklifts in a warehouse, fabrication, or industrial environment.

  • Ability to complete required equipment-specific forklift operator training and evaluation.

  • Experience loading trucks, securing freight, and handling oversized or nonstandard materials.

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to independently manage warehouse workflows.

  • Proficiency with spreadsheets, inventory tracking, and digital documentation.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with fabrication crews, project managers, and transportation teams.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting live events, trade shows, theatrical productions, exhibits, or scenic fabrication.

  • Familiarity with custom-built crates, scenic assemblies, and fragile or oversized freight.

  • Experience coordinating multiple deliveries, shipping schedules, and production deadlines.

  • Previous experience working in fast-paced, project-based fabrication environments.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a proactive, detail-oriented logistics professional who is equally comfortable operating a forklift, organizing a warehouse, maintaining inventory records, and coordinating complex truck-loading operations.

We are looking for someone who takes initiative, anticipates logistical challenges, prioritizes safety, and helps keep production moving efficiently from initial receiving through final project closeout.
